Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Meeting: Services
- How is the ECO Meter calculated?
- It displays reductions in CO2 emission levels, travel expenses, and traveling time based on the times that all participants would spend assembling at their nearest locations.
Note 1: Here, locations mean the ones that the participants have specified.
Note 2: The reductions given are for round trips.
Note 3: Train express surcharges and airplane travel are included. When there are multiple routes available, the one taking the least time is used.
Note 4: For participants from overseas, use Narita Airport as the location.
Note 5: Seasonal fluctuations in airfares are not covered.
Note 6: Note that these calculations exclude participants from Compact, an application included with the Conference room pack.※This service is presently available only in Japan
- Does each user get their own ID?
- No. There is basically one login ID per contract. It does not matter if there are 100 people using the conference room or 1000. The standard scenario, however, is ten seats per conference room.
- What is this Audience functionality?
- Here audience refers to people just listening in on the conference. They can view everything that the regular participants are doing. They can also become regular participants—to voice an opinion, for example.
- What if I want a meeting with someone outside the company, but don't wish to divulge my ID and password?
- Yes, it is possible. E-mailed Invitations allow you to start a conference without requiring IDs and passwords from the other participants.
※Note: All that you need is the participant's e-mail addresses.
- Can users without IDs also participate?
- Yes, it is possible. Just send them an Invitation.
※Note: All that you need is the participant's e-mail addresses.
- Can simultaneous meetings be held under the same contract?
- No, that is not possible. You can, however, contract for additional conference rooms. Write us via our Inquiries form or call our Support Center.

- Can I display and share screens from applications running on my computer?

※Note: Desktop Sharing comes included in the Standard plan and above.
- Can I copy and paste Whiteboard contents?
- No. This functionality is not currently supported. After the conference ends, however, you can access them with View minutes. During the conference, participants can also exchange screen shots and other files via the File Cabinet.

- The file types supported include the graphic formats BMP, JPEG, GIF, PNG, and TIFF, MS Office formats, and PDF.
※Note: Video files and PowerPoint animations are not supported.

2. Multiplatform, for all environments: It runs under both Windows and MacOS.
3. H.323 compliant: It is compatible with dedicated teleconferencing systems.
4. Mobile phone support: The following uses are supported.
Audio and video participation from 3G mobile phones supporting video conferencing
Audio and video participation from applications running on iPhone and other smart phones
Audio-only participation from land-line phones5. Proxy and firewall support: Automatic LAN configuration eliminates the need for difficult in-house setup.
- What does V-CUBE Meeting require in the way of equipment, etc.?
- To start immediately, all that you need is a computer, broadband Internet access, a camera, and a headset (or a microphone and speakers). Participation is even possible without a camera.

- This starts at the maximum, 15 fps. It is then optimized for the number of participants.

- Yes. In the Conference window, select Conference settings and then Video Bandwidth Setting. Increasing the bandwidth setting produces a clearer image.
※Note: On the other hand, it also increases the load on the computer and networking environment.

- ※ Comparisons are difficult because V-CUBE Meeting recording sizes and times vary so much with the number of participants, the number of files on the Whiteboard, the number of comments, etc.
That said, let us give an example.
Under the following conditions, the high-definition recording is twice the size of the normal one.Conditions
No Whiteboard uploads
No Whiteboard comments
Audio on
No setting adjustments inside the conference room
Recording time: 5 minutes
Video on, but otherwise paying no particular attention to the cameraResults
Normal, two participants
Recording size: 16.61 megabytes

- How long can I record with a recording capacity of 500 megabytes?
- ※ V-CUBE Meeting recording sizes and times vary so much with the number of participants, the number of files on the Whiteboard, the number of comments, etc.
Note that the following are just examples. Actual recording sizes fluctuate with the number of participants at the start of the conference, the number of files uploaded to the Whiteboard, etc.
Example 1: Recording a 5-person conference for 60 minutes creates a 100-megabyte file. (No Whiteboard uploads, some comments)
Example 2: Recording a 9-person conference for 90 minutes creates a 200-megabyte file. (One Whiteboard upload, an MS Excel file, some comments)
- Can I use the services on a Macintosh?
- Yes, it is possible. Certain tools, however, are only available for Windows: Sharing3 for sharing computer screens and Checker.
