V-cube and Pioneer VC Test Drone Utility;
Seek New Business Partners

V-cube, Inc. (hereon as “V-cube”) and Pioneer VC Corporation (hereon as “Pioneer VC”) have begun tests with partner companies to demonstrate the utility of drones (small unmanned aerial vehicles) and achieve new methods of communication.

Through the investment in Rapyuta Robotics Co., Ltd. (hereon as “Rapyuta”), a company that develops essence technology for the commercial use of drones, V-cube is jointly developing services for the maintenance of power plants and facilities which are typically tall structures and chimneys (such as iron factories), social infrastructure (such as bridges and tunnels) and local government disaster control programs. These services are set to be made available by the end of 2015.

Pioneer VC, a subsdiary of V-cube, has a proven track record of working with the public sectors such as their project with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in the area of disaster control. V-cube now seeks additional companies and local governments to serve as partners by conducting in capability tests to examine the feasibility of wider applications.

(1) Objectives
V-cube aims to realize new methods of communication by popularizing services that utilize drones. Upcoming verification and evaluation tests are set in limited locations and time periods to obtain effective data needed for the commercialization and broader use of this technology.

(2) Test description
Aiming to verify the practical use of drones under development, V-cube seeks partners for demonstration tests in the following areas:
■Facility maintenance at iron factories and plants
■Social infrastructure maintenance such as bridges and tunnels
■Disaster control in local government agencies

(3) Application period
■Monday, February 16, 2015 – Wednesday, February 25, 2015

(4) Application requirements
Applicants must be corporations or local government agencies who own research facilities and/or are otherwise based in Singapore or Malaysia or Indonesia.

(6) Demonstration test period
■Thursday, March 5, 2015 – Friday, March 27, 2015

(7) Selection method
Applications will be reviewed and all applicants shall be notified of selection results by no later than Wednesday, March 4, 2015. The following factors will be taken into consideration:
■The theme is well-matched with identified needs, as well as conductibility and feasibility.
■The theme settings and the evaluation methods include new viewpoints and potential for further evolution and development.

V-cube will provide services that utilize drones in a phased manner, aiming to realize new visual communication.
